To r escue the ditzy sister (ditzster?) who forgot how to drive in the snow in the last nine months. She’s fine, but her Prius is fucked up. Understeered into a curb from what I can make of her description and now something in the steering is bent. Car is safely off the road now awaiting a tow and I’ve gone up the street to grab her a hot chocolate.

I’ve done that (into the curb, not rescuing someone who went into a curb). Could drive on it, but didn’t really realize how bad it was until I got to work. Stupidly slid down a steep (but straight) hill instead of taking the more gradual but twistier route since it wasn’t steering well, but man I would have been in trouble if I needed to stop on that hill.

She in all her infinite wisdom took a barely cleared back road that terminates into a downhill Y with the main road. She skidded into the central median.

Are you planning on lecturing her on the advantages of snow tires? Glad to hear only the car was damaged though.

Turning to face the curb straight on was one of the smarter choices I made.
Getting myself into the situation in the first place was a dumb choice.
